We The People Are Coming

I just got done paying my quarterly estimated income taxes, my payroll taxes, my monthly sales tax and my fall property taxes. Needless to say, I'm not in a real good mood. A few days ago a friend of mine sent me this email. Kinda sums up how the working man and the small business owners feel.

I have never heard this said as plain or as well.

The folks who are getting the free stuff, don't like the folks who are paying for the free stuff
Because the folks who are paying for the free stuff,
Can no longer afford to pay for both the free stuff and their own stuff,

And, The folks who are paying for the free stuff,
Want the free stuff to stop.
and the the folks who are getting the free stuff,
Want even more free stuff on top of the free stuff they are already getting!

Now... The people who are forcing the people who Pay for the free stuff,
Have told the people who are RECEIVING the free stuff,
That the people who are PAYING for the free stuff,
Are being mean, prejudiced, and racist.

So... the people who are GETTING the free stuff,
Have been convinced they need to hate the people who are paying for the free stuff,
By the people who are forcing some people to pay for their free stuff,
And giving them the free stuff in the first place.

We have let the free stuff giving go on for so long that there are
Now more people getting free stuff than paying for the free stuff.

Now understand this. All great democracies have committed financial suicide somewhere between 200 and 250 years after being founded.
The reason?

The voters figured out they could vote themselves money from the treasury by electing people who promised to give them money from the treasury in exchange for electing them.

The United States officially became a Republic in 1776, 231 years ago. The number of people now getting free stuff outnumbers the people paying for the free stuff. We have one chance to change that in 2012. Failure to change that spells the end of the United States as we know it.

NEIGHBORS HELPING NEIGHBORS

NEIGHBORS HELPING NEIGHBORS

As many of you know, our Bradford County neighbors to the east suffered life-altering weather and devastating flooding in mid-September.

Among the casualties was the Towanda Food Bank… who lost 90% of their food inventory and were forced to spend their financial savings on clean-up, drywall, and repainting efforts to their building. In response to this loss, the Potter County Showstoppers 4-H Club has joined forces with several local volunteers to begin a food collection. The Towanda Food Bank re-opened last Wednesday, October 5th, but they are in desperate need of the Following items:

Pasta, Pasta Sauce, Canned Foods like Tuna, Pork & Beans, Soups, Cake/Brownie/Muffin Mixes, Snack Foods, Toilet Paper, and Bars of Soap.

Collection points have been set up at the Potter County Extension Office, 24 Maple View Lane (off Rte 872, in front of the Freeman House) and at the office of Dr. Bruce Fink, 301 South Main Street (across from Sheetz).

For more information, contact Christine Fink at 274-9019 or Sheila Gabreski at 274-5047 – or email srg22@psu.edu.

It would be great to have community support for this food drive. We know that money is tight all around Potter County, but if everyone could donate just one item, what a wonderful impact we’d have on our neighbors in Bradford County. Just think… it might be us dealing with Mother Nature next time.
