Housing Expo Offers Help For Housing Problems

Housing Expo – Help for Housing Problems

With the growing need for housing in Potter County, and due to the overall economy throughout the Commonwealth, local providers are offering a “Housing Expo,” where county residents can get answers to their questions. This expo will feature agencies and program professionals that serve many populations and needs.

Representatives from agencies that deal with rental and utility assistance, evictions, foreclosure prevention, as well as bankers offering information about refinancing mortgages and buying new homes, will be in attendance.

Also participating to answer questions will be providers from specialty programs that serve specific populations who have difficulty affording renting and associated utility bills. Information about HUD (Section 8), LIHEAP, CAP, and other programs that assist with financing rentals or utilities will be available. This is your chance to get your questions answered straight from the people who deal with these issues on a daily basis.

This event is sponsored by the Integrated Children’s Services Plan Collaborative in cooperation with Potter County Human Services. It is Collaborative’s hope that nobody “falls through the cracks,” and the agencies at the Expo may learn from you as well as you learning from them.

The Potter County Housing Expo will be held at the Gospel Tabernacle Church gymnasium from 1 – 5 p.m. on Friday, June 17th. Free snacks and drinks will be available for everyone. A shuttle service will be available to give rides to the Gospel Tabernacle Church.

The Human Services van will leave from 3rd Street near the Courthouse Gazebo and provide round trip transportation service every half hour beginning at 1 p.m and ending at 4:30 p.m.
