THERESA DENHOFF ANNOUNCES CANDIDACY FOR MAGISTERIAL DISTRICT JUDGE,
SHINGLEHOUSE 55-4-01

Theresa Denhoff has announced that she is seeking the judgeship being vacated by Barbara J. Easton for the 2011 primary race.

Denhoff, who resides in Hebron Township, is a life-long resident of Potter County. She is the wife of Gary (Bill) Denhoff Jr. and the mother of one. She is the daughter of Paul and Cheryl Phelps and the grandaughter of the late Arlo and Esther (Teenie) Scoville and the late Paul and Ethel Phelps.

Denhoff graduated from Coudersport Jr. Sr. High School, where she excelled in sports and in many clubs and community activities. She attended Wilson College in Chambersburg, PA., and in 2001 earned her Bachelors of Science degree with a concentration in Biology.

While at Wilson College she was very active in The Wilson College Government Association serving as Chief Justice. She was a member of Honor Council, served as Senior Class President, Junior Class Vice President and Freshman Class Treasurer. She was a member of Vet Tech Club and received numerous accolades in basketball, softball and field hockey.

Currently, and for the past ten years she has been working as a Licensed Veterinary Technician at the Coudersport Animal Health Center, working under the direct supervision of Dr. Ronnie Schenkein and Dr. Sally Fowler. She is in charge of day to day nursing care and has developed good personal skills while dealing with clients and patients. "In any line of medicine it is very important to keep medical records accurate and to be completely thorough. I will take these accurate and thorough decision making skills into the job of District Judge." During this time she also was on staff at Sagewood, Inc. counseling clients.

Denhoff is involved in the Hebron and Allegany Sporting Club, Genesee Rod and Gun Club, Shinglehouse Womens Softball league and a member of Northern Allegany Basketball Chapter. She has been a PIAA Basketball Official since 2002.

Magisterial District Judges are not required to be lawyers. All must complete an educational course and pass a qualifying examination before they can take office. They must also complete one week of continuing education each year in a program administered by the Minor Judiciary Education Board. All four candidates in this race have not taken this course yet. We are all on the same level playing field.

"The most important part of being a District Judge is to be a fair, honest, knowledgeable and even tempered individual; and I possess these characters. I am a very hard working individual who has a well rounded Liberal Arts education. I am impartial, objective and compassionate."

She would like to point out that some of the best District Judges Potter County has seen have been housewives, radio announcers, and plant workers prior to becoming a District Judge. It takes an individual who is fair yet firm while making life changing decisions for our citizens. Be an informed voter and research the matter by visiting the AOPC website or the Minor Judiciary Education Board. You will realize that electing a younger District Judge will not cost the taxpayers millions in retirement dollars. Like any individual who falls under Pennsylvania State Retirement, one must be at least 50 years of age and put in 24 years of service to have a Full retirement. Don't be misinformed.

"My name appears first on both the Republican and Democratic Ballots in the May 17th Primary. I appreciate your consideration and support."

Magisterial District Court 55-4-01 includes the voting precincts of: Genesee, Clara, Roulette, Allegany, Pleasant Valley, Hebron, North Sharon, South Sharon and Oswayo Townships; Shinglehouse and Oswayo Boroughs.
