Friday 8/5/11

4:00 – 4:45 pm
Beach Concession Area--Living with Bears
Learn the ways to peacefully coexist with our state's largest carnivore. Tales of Tioga County's bears, and the people who deal with them will be shared.
5:00 – 5:45 pm
Beach Concession Area--Coyotes in PA
Coyotes are a well established member of our wildlife community. Learn where they came from, their life history, and their impact in our state. Mounts, hides, skulls, and photos are included in the presentation.
6:30 – 8:00 pm
Beach Area--Canoe Tour
Explore the history, management, and wildlife of Hills Creek Lake via canoe. All equipment provided on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please preregister at park office or by calling 570-724-4246.
9:00 – 9:45 pm
Visitor Center Pavilion--Beavers on Ice
Beavers and glaciation are 2 major factors impacting the park environment. Take an entertaining look at both factors through video and artifacts showing both of these impacts.
Saturday 8/6/11

7:00 – 8:00 pm
Visitor Center Pavilion--Geocaching
Borrow a GPS unit or bring your own. No experience needed. Find out how easy and fun it is to not only use a GPS, but to go Geocaching – the high-tech treasure hunt for all ages. Meet at the visitor center pavilion for a brief introduction and learn how to use the global positioning system (GPS) units. Then use your new skills to explore the park nearby while searching for hidden treasures.
