Weekend Programs at Hills Creek July 29-31, 2011:

Friday 7/29
4pm at the beach: Wildlife Management Tools- A look at the tools and techniques for dealing with squirrels to bears , snakes, and geese.
5pm at the beach: Snakes of PA- a discussion of all the species found in Pa. and how to identify them. A good preview to the Saturday evening program.
7:15pm starting at campground loop C site 62: Beaver hike- see the park’s beavers on a short hike.
9pm at the visitor’s center pavilion: Bears of PA – Learn of the success of our bears and how to peacefully coexist.

Saturday 7/30
4pm at the beach: Bald Eagle in PA- Learn to identify an eagle in the wild, why they’re doing well in PA, and where to see them in our area.
5pm at the beach: Meet the Weasel Family- find out what animals are actually weasels, though they’re not called weasels. Family characteristics will be featured.
8pm at the visitor’s center pavilion: PA Herptils by Bill and Jacki Carey. Live examples and life histories will be shown of many different native amphibians and reptiles.

Sunday 7/31

3pm at the beach: Wildlife Sign- Outdoorsmen were the original CSI crew as they decipher the presence and “whodunit” of wildlife. Learn the basic signs wildlife leaves behind.
4pm at the beach: Skull Session- Learn to identify mammal skulls you might find in your travels. Many examples shown.
6:30pm at the beach: Canoe Tour- preregister at park office. Limited equipment.
9pm at the visitor’s center pavilion: Animal Record Holders- See examples of animal record holders from the park to the whole world. Program combines video and tour of the visitor’s center to show record holders.
